Private Day Trip from Marrakech to Ouzoud Waterfalls
Tour Overview
Ouzoud is Morocco's most spectacular natural wonder that most visitors never reach. Three hours northeast of Marrakech, in the foothills of the Middle Atlas, the Oued el-Abid river plunges 110 metres over a series of reddish limestone terraces in a triple cascade — the most impressive waterfall in North Africa. The name Ouzoud means "the act of grinding grain" in Tamazight — a reference to the ancient olive oil mills still operating in the village above. The falls are home to a large colony of wild Barbary macaques who live freely in the trees and cliffs above the river. Unlike Essaouira or the Atlas Mountains, Ouzoud is still genuinely undiscovered by most international tourists and has a completely authentic, unhurried atmosphere.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1
Marrakech → Ouzoud Waterfalls → Marrakech
Hotel pickup at 08:00–08:30. Drive northeast through the Haouz plain and into the Middle Atlas foothills — olive groves, almond orchards, and Berber villages of pink-painted mud brick. Arrive in Ouzoud village mid-morning. Visit the traditional olive oil mills — stone grinding wheels still powered by water channels. Follow the terraced path down through pomegranate, fig, and carob trees as the sound of the falls grows and the mist begins to cool the air. Reach the base of the main cascade: 110 metres of water splitting into three channels over reddish limestone, creating a permanent rainbow in the mist. Wild Barbary macaques inhabit the cliffs above — approach calmly and they may come surprisingly close. Traditional Berber lunch at a terrace restaurant with the falls visible from the table. Optional boat ride across the pool beneath the falls. Free time to explore independently, swim (seasonal), or sit with the sound of the water. Return to Marrakech in the mid-to-late afternoon.
