Marrakech City Guided Tour — Private Half Day & Full Day

Tour Overview

Marrakech's UNESCO-listed medina is one of the most visited and most disorienting places in the world. The winding lanes, the noise, the intensity of the souks — it is exhilarating but overwhelming without someone who genuinely knows the city. Our guides don't just know the sites; they know the stories behind the doors, the craftsmen by name, and which stall makes the best orange juice on Jemaa el-Fna. Choose the half-day tour for a focused 4-hour introduction covering Marrakech's essential monuments, or the full-day tour adding Ben Youssef Madrasa, Majorelle Gardens, the Mellah, and ending at Jemaa el-Fna as the square comes alive in the late afternoon.

Tour Highlights

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day1

Day 1

Half Day Tour (4 hours) — Morning or Afternoon

Hotel pickup and walk to the 12th-century Koutoubia Mosque — at 70 metres, Marrakech's tallest landmark and architectural template for Seville's Giralda and Rabat's Hassan Tower. Enter the medina and visit the opulent Bahia Palace — 160 rooms arranged around fountained courtyards of carved cedarwood ceilings and zellige tilework, built between 1894 and 1900 to be the greatest palace of its era in Morocco. Continue to the Saadian Tombs — a 16th-century royal necropolis of 66 tombs sealed by Sultan Moulay Ismail for 300 years and only rediscovered in 1917 by aerial photography. The central chamber's Italian Carrara marble columns and golden stalactite stucco are among the finest interiors in Moroccan art. Navigate the specialised souks — copper beaters hammering geometric lanterns in Souk Semmarine, spice and medicinal herb traders in Rahba Kedima, leather dyers in the tanners' lane, and carpet merchants. Return to hotel.

Day2

Day 2

Full Day Tour (7–8 hours) — Morning Departure

Everything in the half-day tour, plus: Ben Youssef Madrasa — the largest Islamic college in North Africa, its 14th-century courtyard a masterpiece of carved cedarwood, stucco muqarnas, and zellige tilework surrounding a marble ablution basin; the Mellah — Marrakech's historic Jewish Quarter established in the 16th century, with its distinctive wrought-iron balconies, covered market, and the Lazama Synagogue; and Majorelle Gardens — the legendary 2.5-acre cobalt-blue botanical garden created by French artist Jacques Majorelle and later saved from demolition by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé in 1980, whose ashes are scattered there. End the day on Jemaa el-Fna as the square transforms into its legendary evening spectacle — storytellers performing in Darija, Gnaoua musicians playing guembri bass lutes, acrobats, snake charmers, and scores of steaming food stalls serving harira soup and fresh-squeezed orange juice.
