Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Casablanca
Arrive at Mohammed V International Airport for a private welcome by your guide. Transfer to your hotel, then visit the Hassan II Mosque β one of the world's largest mosques, built partially over the Atlantic Ocean with a 210-metre minaret (the world's tallest religious structure) and seating for 105,000 worshippers. Marvel at its hand-carved stucco, zellige tilework, and the retractable glass roof that lets sunlight flood the marble interior. Stroll the Corniche oceanfront boulevard for a relaxed first evening.
Day 2
Casablanca to Chefchaouen via Rabat
Drive north to Rabat, Morocco's serene capital. Visit the Hassan Tower β the unfinished 12th-century minaret that would have been the world's grandest mosque β and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, Morocco's finest modern architectural landmark. Explore the Bab Chellah medieval gate and the 17th-century Oudaya Kasbah with panoramic views over the Bou Regreg estuary and the Atlantic. Continue north into the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen β the celebrated Blue Pearl of Morocco.
Day 3
Chefchaouen to Fez via Volubilis and Meknes
Explore Chefchaouen's medina: the 15th-century Kasbah and its small museum, the Great Mosque, the Uta el-Hammam central square, and artisan workshops selling handwoven wool and natural-dye leather. Continue to Volubilis, Morocco's finest Roman archaeological site and a UNESCO World Heritage landmark, where a local guide brings alive the intact mosaic floors, triumphal arch, and ancient olive presses. Visit Meknes to admire the monumental Bab Mansour gateway and Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail before arriving in Fez.
Day 4
Full Day in Fez Medina
Spend a full day in Fez el-Bali with a local licensed guide navigating the 9,000-alley labyrinth. Visit the golden brass gates of the Royal Palace, the 14th-century Bou Inania Madrasa, the Al-Qarawiyyin University (founded 859 AD β the world's oldest), the Najjarine woodworking museum, and the Chouara Tanneries viewed from a rooftop terrace overlooking honeycomb dye vats of saffron, poppy, and indigo. Explore the Mellah Jewish Quarter and browse artisan cooperatives producing leather, copper, and zellige.
Day 5
Middle Atlas to Merzouga
Travel south through Ifrane β the alpine "Switzerland of Morocco" β and Azrou's ancient cedar forest, where wild Barbary macaques roam at the roadside. Descend through the spectacular Ziz Gorges and the lush Ziz Valley, a ribbon of date palms threading through ochre canyons. Arrive at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga as the sun dips toward the horizon, ready for your desert adventure.
Day 6
Sahara Desert Experience
Immerse yourself in the Sahara. Begin with a 4x4 excursion to Khamlia β a village renowned for its Gnaoua musicians who trace their ancestry to sub-Saharan Africa β for a live performance. Visit a nomadic Berber family in their traditional tent for mint tea and cultural exchange. Mount your camel in the late afternoon for a sunset trek into the heart of the towering Erg Chebbi dunes, arriving at your luxury camp as the stars emerge for a traditional Moroccan feast and campfire drumming.
Day 7
Todra Gorge and Dades Valley
Wake before dawn to climb the dunes and watch the Sahara sunrise β the sky turning from deep indigo to brilliant gold over the Erg. After breakfast, travel west to Todra Gorge where 300-metre limestone walls rise sheer from a cool river β one of Morocco's most spectacular natural wonders. Continue through the Dades Valley, stopping at the bizarre "Monkey Fingers" rock formations and earthen kasbahs strung along the valley floor.
Day 8
Ait Benhaddou and High Atlas Crossing
Drive through the Rose Valley of Kalaat Mgouna and the Skoura palm oasis before visiting the legendary Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage ksar whose mud-brick towers have served as a backdrop for Gladiator, Game of Thrones, Lawrence of Arabia, and Babel. Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the dramatic Tizi n'Tichka Pass (2,260 m) with sweeping views, passing through Berber villages before descending into the red city of Marrakech.
Day 9
Marrakech and Farewell
Explore Marrakech's UNESCO-listed medina on a guided morning tour. Visit the opulent 19th-century Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs β a 16th-century royal necropolis sealed for 300 years β and the 12th-century Koutoubia Mosque. Navigate the colourful specialised souks before returning to the legendary Jemaa el-Fna square for a final farewell to Morocco. Private transfer to Marrakech Menara Airport as required.
