Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1
Casablanca: Hassan II Mosque and City Exploration
Start with a guided visit inside the Hassan II Mosque, marvelling at its 210-metre minaret, retractable glass roof, and hand-carved decorations. Explore the Corniche seafront boulevard, the 1930s Habous quarter blending Moroccan and French colonial architecture, and the old medina. Evening at leisure in Casablanca's modern Maarif or Gauthier districts.
Day 2
Casablanca to Asilah via Rabat
Drive north to Rabat for the Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V β Morocco's finest modern royal architecture. Explore the Oudaya Kasbah and its panoramic views over the Bou Regreg estuary. Continue along the Atlantic coast to Asilah, a beautifully preserved walled town whose medina streets are decorated with vivid murals painted each August for the International Cultural Moussem. Walk the 15th-century Portuguese ramparts overlooking the Atlantic.
Day 3
Asilah to Chefchaouen via Tetouan
Drive north to Tangier briefly to see Cap Spartel β the headland where the Atlantic and Mediterranean meet β then continue east to Tetouan, a UNESCO World Heritage medina founded by Moorish and Jewish refugees from Andalusia in 1492. Its whitewashed plazas, carved doorways, and crafts preserve five centuries of Hispano-Moorish heritage unlike any other Moroccan city. Continue south into the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen, the Blue Pearl where every surface glows in shades of azure and cobalt.
Day 4
Full Day in Chefchaouen
Spend a full day exploring Chefchaouen's extraordinary blue-painted medina. Visit the 15th-century Kasbah and its ethnographic museum, the Uta el-Hammam central plaza, and artisan workshops producing hand-woven Rif wool blankets and natural-dye leather. Hike to the Spanish Mosque for panoramic sunrise or sunset views over the rooftops. Browse the covered market for local Rif honey, goat cheese, and handmade crafts.
Day 5
Chefchaouen to Meknes via Volubilis
Drive south to Volubilis, Morocco's finest Roman archaeological site and a UNESCO World Heritage landmark β a local guide reveals the stories behind intact mosaic floors, a triumphal arch erected in 217 AD, and ancient olive presses. Continue to Meknes β the imperial city of Sultan Moulay Ismail β to stand before the monumental Bab Mansour gateway and visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, one of the few Islamic shrines in Morocco open to non-Muslim visitors.
Day 6
Meknes to Fez: The Living Medieval City
Arrive in Fez and spend the day exploring Fez el-Bali with a local licensed guide. Visit the Al-Qarawiyyin University (founded 859 AD β the world's oldest), the 14th-century Bou Inania Madrasa, the golden Royal Palace gates, the Chouara Tanneries from a rooftop terrace, and the Mellah Jewish Quarter. A panoramic fortress viewpoint reveals the full scale of this extraordinary 1,200-year-old UNESCO World Heritage city.
