Casablanca β Rabat β Chefchaouen
Morning pickup from Casablanca. Visit the Hassan II Mosque β 210-metre minaret, retractable glass roof, Atlantic Ocean setting. Drive north to Rabat: the Hassan Tower, Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and Oudaya Kasbah. Continue into the Rif Mountains and arrive in Chefchaouen as the blue medina walls cool in the evening.
Day 2
Chefchaouen β Blue Medina Exploration
A full day in Chefchaouen. The 15th-century Kasbah and its ethnographic museum. The Great Mosque with its octagonal minaret. The Uta el-Hammam central square. Blue-washed alleyways traced to Andalusian Jewish refugees who settled here after 1492. Afternoon hike to the Spanish Mosque above the town for panoramic views over the blue rooftops and Rif ridges.
Day 3
Chefchaouen β Volubilis β Meknes β Fez
Drive south to Volubilis: intact mosaic floors, the Arch of Caracalla, and the remains of a Roman city of 20,000, walked with a licensed archaeologist. Continue to Meknes for the monumental Bab Mansour gate and the vast sultan's granaries. Arrive in Fez for the evening.
Day 4
Full Day in Fez Medina
A complete day inside Fez el-Bali with a licensed local guide. Bou Inania Madrasa. Al-Qarawiyyin University (founded 859 AD). The Chouara Tanneries from a rooftop terrace β stone vats of saffron, poppy red, and indigo unchanged since the 11th century. The Mellah. Artisan cooperatives of brass, copper, and embroidery.
Day 5
Fez β Middle Atlas β Merzouga Dunes
South through the Middle Atlas: Ifrane alpine resort, Azrou cedar forest with Barbary macaques, descent through the Ziz Gorges. Arrive at Merzouga as the dunes turn gold. Sunset camel trek into Erg Chebbi. Luxury private desert camp: traditional feast, Berber music, and a star-field undimmed by light pollution.
Day 6
Merzouga β Todra Gorge β Dades Valley
Erg Chebbi sunrise from the dune crest. After camp breakfast, drive west to the Todra Gorge β 300-metre limestone walls closing to 10 metres, river cold and clear. Continue into the Dades Valley through eroded rock formations and abandoned mud kasbahs.
Day 7
Dades Valley β Rose Valley β Ait Benhaddou
Drive west through the Kelaat M'Gouna rose valley β Damascene roses processed into the attars sold across Morocco. Day 8
Ait Benhaddou β Tizi n'Tichka β Marrakech
Morning at Ait Benhaddou β climb to the agadir for panoramic views across the valley. Cross the High Atlas via Tizi n'Tichka at 2,260 metres: the Saharan plateau behind, the Haouz Plain ahead. Check in to your riad in Marrakech.
