Rise before dawn and climb a dune crest to watch the Sahara sunrise — the sky shifting from deep indigo through amber and copper to brilliant gold as the first light sweeps across the Erg Chebbi. Return for a nomad-style breakfast of Berber omelette, fresh khobz, honey, and mint tea. Drive west to Todra Gorge: 300-metre sheer limestone walls narrowing to barely 10 metres around a clear, cold river flowing from High Atlas snowmelt. Walk the full length of the canyon floor. Drive west through the Rose Valley of Kalaat Mgouna — where 4,000 tonnes of damask rose petals are harvested each May for the global perfume industry — and the Skoura palm oasis.
