Tangier: Gateway Between Two Continents
Begin at Cap Spartel where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean, and explore the Hercules Caves. Visit the Kasbah district, the Dar el-Makhzen Museum, and the legendary Petit Socco cafe square. Explore Tangier's medina with its layered Moorish, Andalusian, and French architectural heritage over a relaxed evening dinner.
Day 2
Tangier to Chefchaouen via Tetouan
Stop in Tetouan, a UNESCO World Heritage medina founded by Andalusian refugees in 1492, preserving five centuries of Hispano-Moorish architecture. Continue south into the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen. Explore the Uta el-Hammam plaza and the medina's blue lanes.
Day 3
Chefchaouen to Fez via Volubilis and Meknes
Explore Chefchaouen's blue lanes. Drive south to Volubilis β Morocco's finest Roman site with intact mosaic floors, a triumphal arch, and ancient olive presses. Visit imperial Meknes and the monumental Bab Mansour gateway before arriving in Fez.
Day 4
Full Day in Fez Medina
A full day in Fez el-Bali with a local licensed guide: the Al-Qarawiyyin University, the Bou Inania Madrasa, the Nejjarine museum, the golden Royal Palace gates, the Chouara Tanneries from a rooftop terrace, and the Mellah Jewish Quarter.
Day 5
Fez to Merzouga via Middle Atlas
Travel south through Ifrane β the alpine "Switzerland of Morocco" β and Azrou's cedar forest where wild Barbary macaques roam freely. Descend through the Ziz Gorges and lush Ziz Valley date palm oasis. Arrive in Merzouga and mount your camel at sunset for a trek into the golden Erg Chebbi dunes.
Day 6
Sahara Desert Day in Merzouga
Rise before dawn to watch the Sahara sunrise transform the dunes from deep indigo to brilliant gold. Explore by 4x4, visit Khamlia for Gnaoua music, meet nomadic Berber families for mint tea and cultural exchange. Optional sandboarding or quad biking on the dunes.
Day 7
Merzouga to Dades via Todra Gorge
Travel west to Todra Gorge where 300-metre limestone walls rise sheer above a cool river. Walk the narrow canyon before continuing through the Dades Valley with its "Monkey Fingers" rock formations and earthen kasbahs.
Day 8
Dades to Marrakech via Ait Benhaddou
Drive through the Rose Valley of Kalaat Mgouna and Skoura before visiting the UNESCO World Heritage ksar of Ait Benhaddou β backdrop for Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and Lawrence of Arabia. Cross the High Atlas via Tizi n'Tichka Pass (2,260 m) into Marrakech.
Day 9

Guided tour of Marrakech's UNESCO-listed medina: the opulent 19th-century Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs β a royal necropolis sealed for 300 years β and the 12th-century Koutoubia Mosque. Navigate the specialised souks before the legendary Jemaa el-Fna square.
Day 10
Marrakech to Essaouira and Farewell
