Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Casablanca
Arrive at Mohammed V International Airport for a private welcome. Transfer to your hotel, then visit the Hassan II Mosque in the late afternoon β one of the world's largest mosques, built partially over the Atlantic Ocean with a soaring 210-metre minaret, a retractable glass roof, and intricate hand-carved stucco and cedar work crafted by 10,000 Moroccan artisans. Stroll the Corniche seafront boulevard for coastal views.
Day 2
Casablanca, Rabat, Asilah, Tangier
Drive north to Rabat, Morocco's serene capital. Visit the Hassan Tower and the elegant Mausoleum of Mohammed V, then explore the Bab Chellah gate and the 17th-century Oudaya Kasbah above the estuary. Continue along the coast to Asilah β a beautifully preserved walled town with mural-covered medina streets. Arrive in Tangier, Morocco's cosmopolitan northern gateway where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean.
Day 3
Tangier to Chefchaouen
Explore Tangier: Cap Spartel with its lighthouse at the confluence of two oceans, the Palace of the Sultan, the Necropolis, and the dramatic Caves of Hercules carved by the sea over millennia. Drive into the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen β the legendary "Blue Pearl" where every alley, stairway, and doorstep is washed in shades of azure and cobalt, a tradition said to date back to the Jewish inhabitants of the 15th century.
Day 4
Chefchaouen, Meknes, Volubilis, Fez
Explore Chefchaouen's medina: the 15th-century Kasbah, Great Mosque, and Uta el-Hammam square. Continue to Volubilis β Morocco's finest Roman archaeological site and a UNESCO World Heritage landmark β where a local guide reveals stories behind intact mosaic floors, a triumphal arch, and ancient columns. Visit Meknes to admire the monumental Bab Mansour gateway and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail before arriving in Fez.
Day 5
Full Day in Fez
Spend a full day in Fez el-Bali with a local licensed guide. Visit the golden brass gates of the Royal Palace, the Bou Inania Madrasa, the Al-Qarawiyyin University (founded 859 AD β the world's oldest), the Najjarine woodworking museum, and the Chouara Tanneries viewed from a rooftop terrace. Explore the Mellah (Jewish Quarter) and browse artisan cooperatives producing the finest ceramics, leather, and metal goods in Morocco.
Day 6
Fez to Merzouga via Middle Atlas
Drive south through the alpine resort of Ifrane β its stone lion sculpture and European-style chalets earning it the nickname "Switzerland of Morocco" β and Azrou's ancient cedar forest where wild Barbary macaques inhabit the roadside trees. Descend through the dramatic Ziz Gorges and the lush Ziz Valley palm oasis to Merzouga. In the late afternoon, mount your camel for a sunset trek across the towering Erg Chebbi dunes to your luxury Berber camp.
Day 7
Merzouga Desert Adventure
Rise before dawn to watch the Sahara sunrise transform the dunes from deep purple to brilliant gold. Explore by 4x4: visit Khamlia village for a live Gnaoua music performance, and meet nomadic Berber families in their traditional tents for mint tea and cultural exchange. Explore remote fossil-rich riverbeds and palm oases. Optional sandboarding or quad biking on the Erg Chebbi slopes in the afternoon.
Day 8
Merzouga to Dades via Todra Gorge
Travel west through Erfoud's fossil marble workshops and Rissani's ancient covered souk β birthplace of the Alaouite royal dynasty. Visit the dramatic Todra Gorge, where 300-metre limestone walls rise sheer above a cool river; walk the narrow canyon floor where shade keeps the air cool even in summer. Continue through the Dades Valley with its striking "Monkey Fingers" rock formations and earthen kasbahs.
Day 9
Dades to Marrakech via Ait Benhaddou
Drive the legendary "Road of a Thousand Kasbahs" through the Rose Valley of Kalaat Mgouna and the Skoura palm oasis. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage ksar of Ait Benhaddou with a local guide β its labyrinthine earthen towers have featured in Gladiator, Game of Thrones, Babel, and The Mummy. Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka Pass (2,260 m) with sweeping panoramic views before arriving in Marrakech.
Day 10
Full Day in Marrakech
Guided tour of Marrakech's UNESCO-listed medina. Visit the opulent 19th-century Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the 12th-century Koutoubia Mosque, and the specialised souks β spice traders, copper artisans, leather dyers, and weavers each occupy their own quarter of the medina. As evening falls, Jemaa el-Fna transforms into a theatre of storytellers, musicians, acrobats, and food vendors.
Day 11
Marrakech to Essaouira
Drive west through argan forests β where goats famously climb the trees to reach the fruit β with a stop at a women's argan oil cooperative. Arrive in Essaouira, the "Wind City of Africa" and a UNESCO World Heritage medina of blue-and-white ramparts, a working fishing port, and winding lanes filled with galleries, craftspeople, and some of the freshest seafood in Morocco.
