The Sahara dunes at Merzouga (Erg Chebbi) are approximately 8–9 hours from Fez by private car via the Middle Atlas and Ziz Valley. We recommend a 2-day or 3-day tour to break the journey properly: overnight in Midelt or Erfoud, then camel trek at sunset and sleep in a desert camp before returning via a different route.
